Our Story: Tartan Viking Tours

Nestled in the heart of the Highlands, Tartan Viking Tours was born from Henry’s lifelong passion for Scotland’s rugged beauty and rich heritage. After years guiding larger tour groups and forging deep connections with travellers, Henry decided it was time to go fully independent by offering small-group, handcrafted experiences that go beyond the usual itinerary.

Henry’s journey began decades ago in Edinburgh, where a chance encounter on a cold winter’s night set the course. Working as a Driver-Guide for a well-known tour company, he spent his days leading guests through misty glens, loch-side villages and ancient castles.

When the world paused during the pandemic, Henry found himself grounded but far from idle by volunteering on food rounds, helping at the local homeless shelter and, by the fireside, sketching the idea that became Tartan Viking Tours: small-scale, fiercely authentic and fuelled by a love for Scotland’s stories.

Instead of competing with the big operators, Henry set out to do something different, craft adventures that feel like travelling with a trusted friend. Flexible routes, hidden trails and real Highland hospitality: from tasting whisky in a family distillery to standing under cliffs where eagles soar, every tour is built around your interests.
